MEASURING THE PHYSIQUE

Before you break out the tape measure, here’s an important caveat: if your body fat level is too high, your measurements will be skewed, and this will affect some areas of your body more than others.

Thus, if you want to use everything you’ve just learned to see which parts of your body need improvement the most, you’ll need to get lean first. Specifically, I recommend you get down to somewhere around 15% to 20% body fat for men and 18% to 22% for women. This would be lean enough to showcase your physique without being impractical or unhealthy.

When measuring each body part, use the Symmetrical Balance Measurements Form and measure at the location shown on the form. For arms, chest, neck, legs a calves need to use the widest point.
